And so here we are, the first Monday of the New Year. Welcome.
Things are relatively back to “normal.” My boss has returned from two weeks of vacation, which means my real job begins once again. I’m talking myself through the fact that it will be a five-day work week, not the three or four days to which I’ve grown accustomed.
It’s a clean start, a fresh slate, with a whole year stretching out in front of me and many unknowns. But I have to admit, I’m excited.
I thought a lot about my “rhetorical resolutions” over the weekend and, as a result, you’ll notice some changes to Rhetorical Expressions in the coming days and weeks.
I’ve made the resolution to blog every weekday… with some Saturdays and Sundays sprinkled in. It’s good to keep the rhythm going, the thoughts churning. Posts may be short or long, but this is one of my new goals.
To streamline subject matter, I’ll be editing the “Tags” section to make it easier to find posts by type and topic. Right now there are too many to choose from.
I’m taking up those 233 speeches once again, but with a more achievable goal in mind — read all the speeches and blog about the highlights by September 2010. Doable? I think so.
I’m also resolved to finish Truman in the next few weeks so I can tackle other titles on my reading list… and start the Gulag. Did you know that Solzhenitsyn buried chapters in his backyard because he feared being discovered by the secret police, and even swallowed shredded papers to keep from being discovered? Amazing.
Hello, 2010. Ready or not as I may be, I’m glad you’ve come.
